	GUBBIO Classical pieces at the Roman Theatre In the wonderful scenery of the Roman theatre from the middle of July to the middle of August, plays are performed inspired by classic tradition. A rich review to dream under the stars.
	AMELIA Amelia’s Charters and Doves contest recalling Every day scenes are evoked in Amelia together with traditional ceremonies where the Statutes regulated both social and political life, such as the prohibition to hunt pigeons, an extremely common game. Every corner and plaza in the historical centre during this time of the year experiences the atmosphere of the Middle Ages. The Palio dei colombi is linked to the setting: archers and knights of the town contradas attempt by using crossbows to bust the cage's lock, where inside the pigeons are held, as to free them. Celebrations end with a traditional 1300s costume parade.
	MONTEFALCO Montefalco’s August Festival Montefalco’s August Festival is an event during which you have the chance to view concerts carried out by small groups of harps and wind instruments, shows for children, live animation in the "quarter taverns", traditional parade, bow and arrow contests and flag-wavers. All this takes place in the historical centre. The appointments in the cloister of San Fortunato are of particular interest. The element that really characterizes the event is the so called traditional "fuga del bove".
	CORCIANO Corciano Festival First conceived in 1965 as a visual arts review for Umbrian artists and today, other than painting and carving exhibitions it also includes plays, concerts, historical evocations and art conferences. An international course for original composition for "bands" has recently been established.
	CITTA' DI CASTELLO Chamber Music Festival of the Nations The festival, first conceived in 1968, is a chamber music review and each edition is dedicated to a single European country, which in this occasion presents the best of its musical production. During the festival visual arts, ballets shows and plays are held, which are also organized in collaboration with the guest country.
	PERUGIA Perugia International Puppet Festival The Festival Internazionale delle Figure Animate is not simply a qualified show event, but also includes experimental activities, lab practice, operator training, exhibitions, conferences and workshops.
	12th-14th August CITTA’ DELLA PIEVE (PG) Terzieri Contest The ancient palio goes back to the 1500s and 1600s and is a contest between the three parts of the town, the terzieri of Borgo Dentro, the terzieri of Casalino, and those of Castello. Each part challenges the other in a historical parade in the town streets. Almost 700 performers are involved in costumes inspired by Città della Pieve's most famous descendent, Pietro Vannucci, also known as "il Perugino", acrobats, jugglers, fire-eaters and war machines, such as cannons and catapults. In the "Campo de li giochi" the bow and arch contest takes place. The targets are rotating dummies portraying bulls, which replaced the ancient "bull hunt", a sort of bullfight with the "toro chianino". Photo by G. Cappiello.
