Oil itinerary in Montefalco
A
suggestive and tasty visit to an old stone oil mill and to a small Museo
dell'Olio, will reveal a rich world of history, culture and live traditions.
Granite turnstones crush hand gathered olives, the streets are scented
by the unmistakable fragrance of newly crushed oil, while tasting a just
cooked hot bruschetta. Two expert and warm hosts will guide you through
the multifaceted and fascinating oil world, pointing out agricultural
techniques (cultivated variety, cultivation, pruning, harvesting, transport,
crushing techniques and differences among them), commercial denominations,
extra-vergine oil from the first pressing characteristics, properties
and benefits in diets. In the small Museo dell'Olio you will have the
chance to admire a 1500s grindstone, old costumes and work instruments,
old oil machinery.
The itinerary ends in a suggestive wine bar which is rather more like
a household, where, surrounded by old family photos and old times objects,
even a quick snack becomes special.
